If you own a Renault, you may have seen this message appear on your dashboard making starting the car impossible.

The reason for this message 'card not detected' is a breakdown of communication between the *keycard and the **key reader.

* Keycard is the remote key fob and also holds the transponder chip.
** Key reader is the slot that you slide your keycard into to allow the car to start.

The cause of this problem is almost always a faulty keycard. This can be easily checked with a transponder reading device and replaced with a new card.

In some cases these can be repaired but it is not something we recommend as the PCB inside the card are very brittle.



We always recommend having a spare card as simply dropping your keycard from a small height can cause it to break.
